Astro content collections give you typed frontmatter for free
Setting up this site, I expected frontmatter to be the usual YAML-and-hope situation. Astro’s content collections validate every file against a Zod schema at build time instead — a missing description or a malformed date fails the build with a readable error, before anything ships.
For a content-heavy site maintained by one person (plus AI tooling that generates drafts), that’s not a nicety. It’s the difference between “the SEO description silently went missing” and “the build told me exactly which file to fix.”
The PM takeaway: schemas at the boundary catch the errors that process never will.
